Blogs and nationalism

Since it is the national day of Sweden today! Oh yeah!!!! (did you check out google?)

I will give you a few reading tips. I have a some new favorite blogs, I thought I would share.
Sadly they are in Swedish.
But if you are technical - which I will assume you are, I am sure you can make your web reader (if that is a word), i.e. google chrom, explorer etc. translate them.

Funny Blog about motherhood:
Inga Konstigheter

Funny Blog about Life with Children:
KetchupMamman

Nice Food Blogs:
Bara en Kaka till
Linnéas Skafferi

These blogs keep me busy. I like to look at the pictures in the food blogs and pretend I can cook it - I technically could, but sadly a lot of the ingredients are not available here in Mexico.
The first blog is amazing, and really describes life with a >1 year old baby - although, I have to admit it is worse than I have experienced it.
The one called ketchup mom literary makes me laugh out loud. One of the best things I've ever read is:

"Who used the toilet cleaner last?"
"I don't know, I haven't cleaned the toilet in ages"
"Good, so it is your turn then"

An amazing way to get things done by the person who you live with!!! I love it. Works as well with the dishes for example.

Today we will celebrate by wearing the amazing colors of the Swedish flag and listen to the national anthem on repeat. How will you celebrate?
I would make a Swedish Jordgubbstårta.... oh but maybe I will... Should be able to do that here too!!!

You will find out tomorrow!

Have a great wednesday

Do Not Buy Gerber Avena/ Gerber Oatmeal

I am disappointed.

But lets start from the beginning.

When a mother starts looking for the first foods of her baby she is nervous. Thus, she does her research.

Here is my research (in English):
http://healthmad.com/children/foods-babies-shouldnt-eat/

http://www.littledish.co.uk/nutrition/salt-sugar-know-the-facts.html

http://chestofbooks.com/health/children/J-H-Tilden/Children-Their-Health-and-Happiness/Baby-Diet-No-Salt-or-Sugar-Has-Been-Recommended.html

Summary: No added sugar

She then goes to the store and sees oatmeal for infants - 1st step, from one of the biggest food companies in the world (for babies) she will assume that they also have done their research on what infants should or should not eat.

She buys the oatmeal and the baby LOVES it - this much:

Memo tasted Sophia's oatmeal and said - this contains sugar.
I said - No, no, that cannot be possible. Must be some type of vanilla.

So next time we went to the store we checked -  Sugar was the second ingredient on the list!!!!!!!
Meaning, there's quite a lot in there.
Looking it up on Gerbers website they say that there is no added sugar.
I didn't know there was natural sugar in Oats!?!?!
In the ones I buy there's none...

So I started making my own oatmeal - non-sweetened.

This made Sophia react like this

Not very popular as you can tell.
Memo wondered why she was so upset - did something hurt.

No! But imagine if I gave you a Popsicle every night, and then start giving you only ice. Would you be happy?

So, if you want to give your baby oatmeal - make it yourself.

Take oats - put them in the mixer until it's like flour - add water - cook on stove - done

I make my own apple sauce so that it becomes a bit more tasty.

Apple sauce:

boil pieces of apple with water - add cinnamon if wanted - when ticker put in mixer -  done

Sophia now LOVES her oat meal again!!!

Do Not Buy Gerber

Making your own baby food is SO easy

It is not ethically correct for them to add an ingredient in their infant food that is not recommended for infants.

Videos

Today we had a rough day.
Why?
I don't know, but Sophia was cranky all day. On top of that I hurt my toe.

Her are a few videos you can entertain your baby with:

And to all you Swedes who grew up in the 80s or before

Enjoy!

Disappointed again

I tend to believe too much in people, expect them to be like I am (or was raised to be) and if they are not that way I become disappointed.

Memo calls me socially retarded because a lot of times I do not like to meet new people.
There is a reason for that.

I get attached. I show I care. I do things for them (a lot of times without them knowing) because I want them to be happy.
Usually i do not get any of this in return, which is ok, but I don't like to be run over.
That is why I come of as rude to new people.

To the latest situation I would like to say:
F***k you bitches, if only you know how important I have been, and am, maybe you would have been nicer.

Now I got it out of my system.

As memo and my friends know - if you piss me off you will have to suck it up. I do not forget. And I am very childish - this is one if my biggest flaws - I will make you regret it.

For example, I know you want to see Sophia - I will make sure you don't, which in the long run means she will not be attached to you.

As I said, childish... But I hate when people disrespect me, treat me bad, etc
I need to work on this, but not right now.

Ciao

Halfs

The weekend was calm, and rather social for a change.

On saturday we spent a few hours at the San Javier club with memos friends, and then went home to watch movies.

Yesterday started early, at 5.40 in the morning.
Half marathon day!
Memos friend came and we all headed to the San Javier club.
All went well, Sophia loved it. She was watching all the runners, and peons cheering.
Memo did really good too. 1h37
The goal was 1.30, but since the race was like 60% uphill he was happy.

Sophia and I are enjoying our morning, hope you are too.

Picture Update

The day has been long. My back is hurting. I will guess it's due to carrying a (almost) 8kg baby.

Oh yeah, we have realized our pediatricians scale isn't accurate. 2 weeks ago, she was (supposedly 7kg), but only 4 days later she was 7,9Kg on another scale (7.6 on ours).
Oh well...

Here are some pictures of the week

Mormor

Today is my grandmothers birthday - May 31st

I was watching a show on a Swedish channel (online) about doctors, and in one episode they have to tell an old lady she has cancer.

I remember when I found out my grandmother got cancer.
And I remember how awfully fast it took her life.

My grandmother was quite a bitter lady, but she had a lot of love for her family.

I miss her everyday.

Often when I have to take a decision I ask myself if she would have been proud of me.

I know she would have been proud of me finally graduating university.
And I know she would have been even prouder seeing me with Sophia.
