Similarities

There is one huge similarity between this monday and last monday.

Do you remember that I told you I sat outside for 3h in the sun and got a bit of a sun burn??

Some people might learn from their past mistakes. No, I correct myself, MOST people learn from (at least this kinda) past mistakes.
Did I?

Not really.

I did worse.
Whereas last week I got a bit of red color, this week I actually more or less burnt my skin.
It is very red and hurts.
Especially my legs (where it's mostly concentrated on my knees).

One would think that a 25, almost 26 or even 30, year old university student would know better...
Well, she doesn't.

Now I'm in pain.

This weekend was rather interesting.

Saturday after I wrote my depressing post my dad and I went down to the park. Took a long (read 20 min) walk, which resulted in some muscle pain (Ass n legs) for him.
We had a nice time, it was warm, we laughed at the semi-soviet-communist inspired statues, we laughed less at my dads feet that started hurting after a while (he was wearing some slippers).

We stopped for lunch, but they didn't serve lunch.
The lady offered us breakfast.

My dad accepted.

So there we sat in the warm sun, sharing a boiled egg, some slices of tomato and cucumber and talked about how different Turkey is to what you expect coming down here.

Then we went home, I pretended to read some articles when I actually was watching random shows.

Then I went out for a couple of glasses of wine with Dan. It was nice.

Yesterday nothing special happened.
Lunch
Bazaar (didn't have DVD's or sunglasses)
Panora mall
Couch

Dinner time came. My dad had to go for a "business dinner" with Jeff and Dan, I wasn't invited.
Well, as custom has it I went to Burger King and also dropped by the supermarket to get some popcorn.

This is when my luck turned.

1. They didn't sell Turkcell credit; Turkcell yok the guy screamed. I hurried away when he didn't stop and pushed a red butten.

2. In BK I ordered a Whopper Jr. Cheese with a large (Swedish standards) pepsi, menu yok (no menu)
I got a cheesburger with a HUGE pepsi (About a liter) and a huge fries.

3. I noticed I had forgotten my keys. My dad said they were gonna eat in Las Chicas. So I tried to go there. I thought it was in Filestin/Filistin cad., of course it wasn't. We finally agreed on a direction, but there was no Las Chicas, they'd closed.

WTF, no credit, no keys.

So I had to find a place where I could buy credit.
I couldn't see any stores. But I could see the Sheraton.
I went there.
Got my self some kinda key and was directed towards the mall just next to there.
Found the Turkcell store, wanted to pay buy credit card, but: credit card yok...

FUCK!

Finally got my credit, got a hold of my dad; they were in "the house cafe", walked there, sat through a 1½, if not 2h long power station discussion. But it was all ok because the company was nice...

GOD....

Well... Micro exam today. It went as good as one would expect
Now I need to work on the last 3 pages of innovation management.

Post-drinking

I am a bit tired.
A lot of questions going around in my head...
One of which is...
Why am I not out on the balcony in the sun?

This is a good, thought through question.

I'm trying to tell myself to wait a min or two...

I will write a bit more later...

Maybe better

I just got home.

I'm not too happy.

The only thing i gotta remind myself of is to not go down that road again, not to deliberatly get hurt.

I always do that, I put myself in situations where for sure I will get, either dissapointed or sad.

Ignoring that I had a nice night.

Inefficiancy at its essence

The day has been extremely beautiful.
Not a cloud on the sky (still) and an increadibly sun.

If you read the earlier post you know I wanted to do something.

We didn't. This is what we did.

* We went to have lunch. While eating we looked at the people praying outside of the mosque.
This is quite interesting actually. I never understood why they are building new ones everywhere when no one ever goes (this I know since we have one just down our house, very disturbing during the prayers)?
Well maybe it is because for the friday mid day mass/prayer the mosques are full.
The one across the street from the restaurant was so full people were, as I said, outside praying.
I would have taken a picture, but I didn't feel it was appropriate... and well, also I didn't have my camera (the first excuse is there just because it looks good).

* Then we went to Migros (grocery store) where, in accordance to our shopping habits we got beer, but on top of that we also got tomatos, cheese and salad. We're improving.
No longer are we shopping like bachelors, or how some people called it; homeless people.

* After that our excursion was over (about 1½h). We went home. I installed myself comfortably on the balcony. Shorts and tank top, no bikini today.
While enjoying the sun I read an article for my innovation paper but quickly abandonned since the tunes of Dave Matthews Band got me thinking about other things.
So instead I got some Economists; randomly read some articles while watching the turks working on the climbing wall.

This climbing wall is a subject of its own.
It has been half done for 3 months... they worked on it for a while just when I'd gotten here but quickly stopped.
Today they started again.
Well, they put up banners and posters, arranged some tables and chairs. We thought they would open it up.
But of course they didn't.
First of all, arranging all of the above (answer E, haha) took them the whole day, this would, in a different place have taken tops 2h.
But you know, the turks like to sit around in the shadow and rest.
And why not I say.
I like to rest too, maybe not in the shadow, but resting is underestimated.

Anywho, pappa is preparing a bbq, after that i'll b out n about.

* Found a picture of what they wanted Park Vadi to look like... it doesn't look like that...

Vitamin D

That's what the sun "provides" us with right?
I don't really remember, and I am too lazy to actually google it.

So today is the 1st out of three days off.

My dad and I started out with a morning cigarette on the balcony, looking out on the clear blue sky and decided we should do something today.
I got ready, now I am waiting for him.

I don't know what we're gonna do. Nothing too crazy, who knows, maybe we'll go have lunch somewhere?!
I suggested we go to the castle.
He didn't want to.
The only other option here in Ankara is the Ataturk Mosuleum (or smth), i.e. his grave.
I don't think he'll wanna do that either.

While waiting for him I sat out on the balcony, enjoying the sun, really feeling how my body absorbed the vitamin D while reading the Economist.

I love the Economist. It is actually rather interestin.

Later on tonight (he said afternoon, I've learnt not to trust any type of given time with him) I will maybe go meet up with Dan.
We'll see.

All exchange students are out on adventure this weekend. I hope they have a great time and all get their asses back to Ankara without injurees (they are worse than me when it comes to drunken injurees).

Oh well, I'm off.

*In this post I give you a picture from my first trip to Istanbul, when it was stil snowy

VACATION!

I completely forgot in my angerness;
I have 3 day vacation, starting, well... at 10.10 this morning!!!! YAY!

This of course is celebrated with some red wine. I don't see why not.
Red wine has recently become one of my closest friends, in a very non-alcoholic way.
A glass or two from time to time... I don't see why not.
I am also not embarassed to say that I drink a glass by my self from time to time.

*****

This post was about 3 times as long.

Talking about Tata cars and other extremely interesting things.

But blogger fucked up n deleted 2/3s of it.

I'm not happy about it, the wine makes it a bit better thou.

Oh well.

I'll tell you all I know about Tata tomorrow.

*The pic is of the fish I told you about in the first post of today*

The luck turned... to the worse

Today started out good.

As I wrote earlier, the exam went good.
In fact, everything was fine until I went to the library. Then my luck turned.

I got a phone call.
Now, what you need to know is that; I never get phone calls.
Not only because I am unpopular because of my negative attitude (hihi) but also: because of this negative attitude I haven't been giving out my cell phone number.
3-4 people have it.
And I have theirs.

So when a number that I couldn't recognize called I became curious.

I should have known nothing good comes out from numbers you don't recognize.
It was DHL.

My phone finally reach Turkey.
Now many of you might wonder why this in any why could be negative. Well I will tell you.

Since someone, and no names will be mentioned out of respect, decided it would be a good idea to put down the price of the phone on the statement the Turkish customs, of course, will need me to pay for gettin it sent here.
I specifically asked the person NOT to write it there since I knew this would happen. But some people don't listen. Which I now have to take the consequence of.

So my phone is currently in the Ataturk airport in Istanbul and DHL would appreciate it if I came there to make the customs clearance. This I told him would not be possible since I am living in Ankara.
He then informed me that my option was to pay the tl 130 (€65) only to get it sent to the customs office in Ankara.
I will then have to go to Esenboga airport (about an hour from here) for a some sort of interview with the customs managers and then I will have to pay tl 150 (€75) in order to take the phone home.

Now in order to pay them all this money I will have to go to a bank and make a transfer to some account.

GOD.... I am VERY VERY pissed off. I mean... seriously!?

Anywho, I left the library angry and went to my Micro class.
Now this morning it took me about 30min to finish the exam (as I wrote earlier today) which means that I got out at 10.10ish.
My Micro class starts at 13.40

When I got there I was told it had been cancelled.

F**k it... I waited there for 3h3 for NOTHING.

Not happy.

Now I am back home. About to start with the Innovation homework that is due next week.

Before you click yourslef on to a different webpage, here are some pics from yesterday.
After having taken a picture people made the remark that I always smile in the same way... it is true. It is a technique I have polished since some 10 years now, this because the risk of a bad picture is lower that way!
So Giorgio said we should try to do the opposit. Him smiling, me being serious. This is the result.
